The Baby Cuddlers
A true breath of humanity in the heart of the hospital.
An altruistic initiative that warms hearts since 2019.
Since March 2019, a wave of affection and compassion has been sweeping through the corridors of the Children's Hospital (Huderf) in Brussels, thanks to the initiative of the non-profit organization "Les Câlineurs de Bébés" (The Baby Cuddlers). These big-hearted volunteers have embarked on one of the noblest missions: to bring a bit of gentleness and comfort to hospitalized infants.
The intervention of the "Baby Cuddlers" proves to be crucial when parents cannot remain with their hospitalized babies at all times, often due to logistical constraints such as the distance between the hospital and their home or the need to care for other children at home.
Contrary to any notion of substitution, these volunteers with generous hearts aim to support and complement the irreplaceable relationship between parents and children. Their soothing presence provides hospitalized infants with a refuge where they can find comfort, even in the most challenging circumstances of their hospitalization.
Studies have highlighted the positive effects of these tender gestures, such as the release of dopamine and serotonin, contributing to the well-being and relaxation of babies. The "Baby Cuddlers" have embraced this concept and made it their mission, thereby offering a precious source of comfort and support to families facing medical challenges.
